Rock-Solid Connectivity for the HYROX World Championships Chicago 2025
Flawless Performance, Zero Downtime — Powered by Peplink
When the world’s top Fitness Racers gathered at Chicago’s Navy Pier for the 2025 HYROX World Championships, performance and precision weren’t limited to the competitors on the race floor — they were equally critical behind the scenes.
From registration and real-time race timing to live streaming and global media coverage, every aspect of the event depended on robust, resilient connectivity.
As the Official Connectivity Partner of HYROX, Peplink engineered a solution that ensured the event delivered an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators, and fans around the world.

Challenge
HYROX is an international phenomenon in functional fitness racing, with tens of thousands of athletes and spectators converging in a single venue.
In Chicago, where its world championships were held, the stakes were higher than ever: multiple live streams of the Elite 15 competitions throughout the weekend, fans expected flawless live streams, and the timing systems had to deliver split-second accuracy.
Any downtime — in athlete check-in, race timing, or broadcast feeds — would have been unacceptable.
The environment demanded a network resilient enough to handle multiple uplinks, huge data loads, and unpredictable conditions.
The venue is vast, and after a quick site visit it became clear that extra equipment would be needed to meet all the requirements of the event.
Solution
To deliver seamless performance, Peplink sent one of their top experts from its global distributor, Frontier, to deploy a full Peplink ecosystem, combining multiple technologies into a single, intelligently managed solution.
When additional devices were needed, Frontier rose to the challenge, providing and delivering them overnight.
A two-mile fiber backbone served as the primary high-throughput link, interconnecting key areas across the venue.
For high-speed backup connectivity, six Starlink terminals were bonded via a Peplink MBX.
Additional 5G bandwidth was also integrated into this bonded setup using BR2 Pro routers operating in Synergy Mode.
Similar deployments were installed in critical locations such as the control room and gallery over the race floor.
Here, MBXs ran in High Availability mode to eliminate any single point of failure, these in turn connected to the WANs of BR2 Pros provided additional bonded 5G connectivity, maximizing throughput and resilience under heavy data loads.

Internet distribution across the venue was handled through Peplink Switches for stable wired connections and strategically placed AP One AX access points to ensure high-capacity Wi-Fi coverage for staff, media, and operational teams.
SpeedFusion tunnels segmented mission-critical services, such as race timing & live scoring, from general traffic like media uploads and staff connectivity.
This guaranteed consistent quality of service where it was needed most.
The entire network was monitored via the InControl centralized management platform, giving the HYROX technical crew real-time visibility and instant alerts, enabling proactive management and rapid response to any issues.
Result
Over the entire World Championship weekend, the Peplink-powered, multi-uplink, multi-path network delivered flawless performance across all critical operations.
There was zero downtime for athlete registration, timing systems ran with split-second accuracy, and HD live broadcasts reached fans worldwide without interruption.
Fast, stable Wi-Fi enabled media teams and event staff to share updates and content instantly, keeping the audience engaged in real time.

(Over 10,000 athletes and fans on-site for this final event of the season.)

Behind the scenes, SpeedFusion and High Availability worked exactly as designed.
Automatic failovers between Starlink and cellular connections occurred seamlessly, with no visible impact on services.
InControl’s live monitoring and instant alerts allowed the technical team to stay ahead of network demands and maintain peak performance throughout the event.
By combining multiple connections, intelligent traffic routing, and real-time failover, HYROX delivered a resilient, high-performance experience that met the high expectations of a world-class championship event.
