Use Peplink’s Firewall Feature to Block Netflix

As of firmware 6.3 Peplink Routers can block traffic from specific applications.

To begin navigate to Network > Firewall > Content Blocking (For MAX Devices: Advanced > Content Blocking).

Add the following customized rules to the customized domains:

  • nflximg.*
  • netflix.*
  • nflext.com
  • nflxvideo.net
  • nflxext.com

Don’t forget to Save and Apply the changes and devices on your network won’t be able to view any Netflix content.

Note: Make sure you flush your dns settings between testing changes to avoid loading websites that have been cached already!

Starting with firmware 8.0.1, a Netflix category has been included in firewall > Content blocking > application blocking , which will block Netflix.

Is there any way to content block on specific wan connections? I would like to block Netflix over cellular but allow it over WiFi as wan and WAN.
