Having Multiple Subnets behind a Router on the LAN

For multiple-subnet support, two aspects are typically considered:

  1. One physical network segment: having multiple logical subnets on the same physical network
  2. Multiple physical network segments: having multiple subnets on separate physical networks

Peplink Balance Series supports the scenarios with multiple physical network segments only. In doing so, another router in addition to Peplink Balance is required. The following illustrates.

Compliance and Capabilities

Peplink Balance fully supports this network environment, and enables applications such as:

  • NAT of all internal networks (or subnets) and full Internet connectivity
  • Inbound and Outbound link load balancing
  • One-to-One NAT of internal host to public IP address
    e.g. 192.168.4.10 <-> 65.x.x.4 (in the above example)
